Mossberg Shockwave Now Available in .410 Bore for Home Defense

The Mossberg Shockwave lineup has continued to grow ever since the first model hit shelves in January 2017. In addition to three 12-gauge models and one 20-gauge offering, the Mossberg Shockwave series now includes a .410 bore variant for home defense. It boasts a 14-inch barrel; overall length of 26.37 inches; Raptor pistol grip; strapped forend; 6-round capacity; and weighs in at just 4.24 pounds. Best of all, it’s classified by the ATF as a “non-NFA” firearm, meaning there’s no tax stamp required.

Mossberg Shockwave 410 Bore Details

Check out the press release below to learn more about this non-NFA gun:

Built on Mossberg’s proven pump-action design, the 590 Shockwave features non-binding twin action bars; positive steel-to-steel lock-up; an anti-jam elevator; dual extractors; and ambidextrous top-mounted safety. The 590 design also includes an anodized aluminum receiver, drilled and tapped for ease of adding optics, and magazine tube with convenient clean-out cap. The 410 bore offering is 2 ½ and 3-inch capable; features a 14-inch heavy-walled, cylinder bore barrel with single bead sight; and sling swivel studs. The Shockwave Raptor pistol grip, constructed of durable polymer, has an enhanced textured finish and “bird’s head” shaped-profile, allowing for greater control while lessening felt recoil. The cob-styled, synthetic forend is strapped for safety, greater control and smoother operation. The grip and forend feature a black finish and exposed metalwork has a complementing matte blue finish.

With an overall length of 26.37 inches, the BATFE (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) has classified this compact 590 Shockwave platform as a “Non-NFA Firearm,” requiring no tax stamp for transfers. Defined as a firearm, not a long gun, Federal Law does require the purchaser of a 590 Shockwave to be 21 years of age.
