Mossberg's Optic-Ready Firearms

With the advancement of micro dot optics, handgun competitors were early adopters of adding an optic to their pistol. When manufacturers, like Mossberg, added an optic-cut slide to direct mount smaller sights, this feature quickly became standard, and popularized adding red dots for competitors, hunters, and personal defense use. Mossberg’s line of 9mm MC2c (compact) and MC2sc (micro compact) pistols come optic ready. Key design features of these 9mm pistols include double-stack magazines; flat-profile triggers; 416 stainless steel slides with DLC finish; glass-reinforced polymer frames; snag-free dovetail sights; and Safe Takedown System.

Optic-Ready Shotguns

But Mossberg didn’t stop there. Realizing the advantages of a direct-mounted optic, Mossberg’s engineers designed an optic cut receiver for the company’s 500/590 and 835 pump-action and 940 Pro autoloading shotguns. This patented design allows for direct mounting of a micro dot optic (Shield RMSc-footprint) onto the cut in the shotgun’s receiver. Direct-mounted optics allow for proper eye alignment when shouldering the scattergun and for quick target acquisition.
