Nashville Home Invasion
According to a press release from the Metro Nashville Police Department, it all started when two men broke in through the back door of a home in Nashville’s Hermitage neighborhood on Wednesday night. The homeowner wasn’t there at the time, but his wife was. When the two suspects encountered her, they hit her in the face.
During the ensuing scuffle, the homeownerâ43-year-old Brent Bishopâreturned home to find the back door open. When he walked into the kitchen to see what was going on, the suspects hit him on the head with a blunt object. He was then ordered him to open his gun safe. Bishop complied, and the suspects snatched three long guns and a handgun. They left shortly thereafter.
While all this was going on, Bishop’s wife managed to escape to a neighbor’s house.
A dazed Bishop, not knowing where his wife was, grabbed a pistol from another room and went to look for her. He quickly encountered the suspects in his front yard. Bishop opened fire, fatally wounding 27-year-old Terry Adams, Jr. The unidentified accomplice immediately dropped the guns and took off. His whereabouts are unknown.
Bishop was transported to a local hospital to be treated for a skull fracture.
Suspect
Unsurprisingly, Adams is a career criminal with a lengthy rap sheet that includes convictions for auto burglary, felony theft and aggravated assault. He had previously been convicted in Nashville of attempted burglary.
Last year, Adams was also busted for meth possession and unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon. He pled guilty to two misdemeanors and was placed on probation as a result. When the home invasion went down last Wednesday, Adams was wanted by police for violating probation.
Police are still trying to determine why Adams and his accomplice targeted the Nashville home. The home had previously been robbed on Feb. 6. In that incident, a flat screen TV was taken. Adam is believed to be responsible for the robbery.
