Cop, Firearms Instructor Becomes Hero in Crossroads Mall Stabbing

Jason Falconer is a part-time police officer, former police chief, tactical firearms instructor, and United States Practical Shooters Association (USPSA) shooter. You can also add hero to that list after his actions at the Crossroads Mall in St. Cloud, Minn., on Saturday.

Suspect Dahir Adan had stabbed a total of nine people in the Crossroads Mall when he crossed paths with Falconer, who was off duty at the time.

Falconer fatally shot Adan after the suspect threatened him with a knife, according to multiple reports.

CNN reported:

Falconer was in the mall shopping, and happened to be in “right place at the right time,” St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis said. The attacker, Adan, confronted Falconer after Adan had already stabbed nine people. Falconer ID’d himself as an officer and when Adan lunged at him, he fired, Kleis said.

“Not only did he fire, the suspect went down, came back up on three different occasions,” Kleis told CNN. “… He protected others from being injured and potentially loss of life. Clearly, a hero.”

On top of his current profession as a part-time police officer with the Avon Police Department, Falconer is also the president and owner of Tactical Advantage training.

The Tactical Advantage website reads: “His goal is to teach individuals the mindset, knowledge and skills needed to be successful with firearms in order to secure their personal safety or that of their family, at home or in public.”

Clearly, Falconer knows what he’s doing.
