We’ve been seeing more and more stories involving pizza store employees and delivery drivers shooting armed robbers, and this latest incident — in which an armed pizza delivery driver shot at a would-be armed robber in Norfolk, Virginia on Sunday night — fits that growing trend.

According to the Virginian-Pilot, the suspect, a 15-year-old teenager, pulled a gun on a Chanello’s Pizza deliver driver and demanded money from him at around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Galt and Barre streets.
Unfortunately for the suspect, the driver pulled out a gun of his own and opened fire, shooting him. News reports didn’t specify where he was hit.

The unidentified suspect was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He condition was touch-and-go for a while, but police say is now expected to survive.
The suspect has been charged with robbery and using a firearm to commit a felony, the Virginian-Pilot said.
Police didn’t say whether or not the driver would face charges as a result of the shooting.
