Patriotic Beginnings

From the start, POF USA charted its own path in enhancing the AR platform with innovative features.

POF USA created a cult-like following with features present on the Renegade Plus SPR, along with some new ones. Some of those features include fully ambidextrous billet receivers; a high-phosphate nickel-coated bolt carrier group; a nine-position adjustable rifle-length dictator gas block; and a 3.5-pound POFUSA drop-in FLAT trigger system with KNS anti-walk pins.

The POF Renegade measures 40 inches with its stock collapsed and weighs 7.7 pounds empty. It features a 20-inch 1:7 twist chrome alloy barrel that is nitride heat-treated for full corrosion resistance. A POF-designed triple port muzzle brake aids in recoil management and flash suppression.

POF Patents

POF USA will never be accused of being stagnant or resting on the designs of others.

The manufacturer’s patented E2 dual-extraction method consists of four small channels cut into the walls of the chamber allowing a small amount of gas pressure to push against the neck of the spent case. This pressure assists in extraction by breaking the seal between the chamber and case, as well as pushing the spent case to the rear as the extractor is pulling to the rear. The process removes a tremendous amount of work that would otherwise be left up to the extractor.

The POF patented, oversized 3-inch long heat sink barrel nut is another significant improvement. The barrel nut is much more efficient at heat dissipation than the standard AR barrel arrangement.

POF Renegade Plus SPR Features

POF USA’s bolt carrier is a one-piece, high phosphate, nickel-coated affair bolt carrier. The POF bolt carrier group features a chrome plated bolt, extractor and firing pin.

The innovation doesn’t stop there. No detail is too small if operating efficiency increased. POF’s patented roller cam pin created to reduce friction and drag in the action. Standard AR cam pins feature a square steel head that literally grinds and carves away at the inside of the receiver. POF-USA’s NP3-coated roller head actually rolls inside the channel of the upper, thus eliminating friction and prolonging the life of the upper.

The .224 Valkyrie is to the AR-15 what the 6.5 Creedmoor is to the AR-10. What do I mean? Previous performance standards of chambering have been upgraded in a big way opening new territory for the AR platform to truly become a Modern Sporting Rifle. The .224 Valkyrie sends high ballistic coefficient rounds down range at higher than previous velocities.

A round loaded with the 90-grain Gold Medal Sierra MatchKing produces a muzzle velocity of 2,700 feet per second; it maintains a blistering 1,950 fps pace at 500 yards and 1,359 fps when crossing the 1,000-yard line. In fact, it remains supersonic past 1,300 yards.

The .224 Valkyrie 60-grain Nosler Ballistic Tip Varmint yields a muzzle velocity of 3,300 fps; it maintains supersonic flight to 780 yards and still cruises along at 934 fps at 1,000 yards.
