Primary Arms and Holosun Release the HE509 with ACSS Vulcan Reticle

Are we seeing the next peanut butter cup happen in real-time? “You got your enclosed reflex sight on my reticle.” “You got your reticle in my enclosed reflex sight.” Delicious. Ok, it probably didn’t happen quite like that, and maybe I need a snack. Either way, the new Primary Arms and Holosun co-branded HE509 with ACSS Vulcan reticle is pretty much the same thing.

With a 7075-T6 aluminum frame, the HE509 red dot from Holosun is one of the industry’s most popular optics. A rugged frame protects the optic from drops and impacts as well as moisture and dirt. The sight also features the company’s “Super LED” and multi-reticle system. Likewise, Shake Awake technology ensures the reticle is ready when you are, while Solar FailSafe keeps it operating.

However, the HE509 is now also the only enclosed reflex sight on the market to feature Primary Arms’ patented ACSS Vulcan reticle system. The ACSS Vulcan features a 10 MOA chevron center aiming point, surrounded by a large outer circle.

As a result, when the aim moves off-target, the edge of the circle comes into view. This provides an immediate visual indicator of where the center aiming point is, guiding the user back to center. But when the optic is centered at arm’s length, the circle falls outside the optic window for a clear sight picture. However, you can extend the battery life by shutting of the circle, if you don’t need it.

One important observation from Primary Arms’ website is, “Note: The 509 ACSS model does not share the same footprint as the 509T (non-ACSS models) and therefore is incompatible with aftermarket mounting solutions and custom cut slides for the 509T (non-ACSS models).”
