Every now and then, a new product flies under our radar. It’s rare, but it happens. Palmetto State Armory released one such product earlier this year: The PSA ARV. First announced at SHOT Show 2020, the new AR accepts CZ Scorpion magazines.

PSA announced quite a few offerings at SHOT 2020. The first that drew quite a bit of attention was the PSA Dagger. It’s basically a $300 Glock 19 Gen3 clone. After months of speculation, it finally released in September and sold out shortly after. Then there’s the PSA JAKL, a .300 Blackout built to be a truck gun. Originally scheduled for late summer 2020, there hasn’t been much released on it. At this point, summer 2021 feels more realistic.

Now we have the PSA ARV, which requires no wait, as it went to market sometime in the last month. Let’s take a closer look at the new offering.

PSA ARV Details

Palmetto refers to the AR-V as an AR-style/pistol caliber carbine platform. Chambered in 9mm, the AR-V line includes both pistol and rifle variants. It also has a last-round bolt hold-open feature. But perhaps the most important feature is that the AR-V uses either CZ Scorpion or PSA AK-V U9 mags.

The CZ Scorpion and its seemingly infinite line of variants is one of the most popular firearm platforms you’ll find. There’s an option out there for everyone. With that kind of popularity, having a new firearm accept Scorpion mags seems like a logical choice; so PSA did just that. The ergonomics of the Scorpion mag also work well for a PCC like the AR-V. Like many other PSA models, the AR-V does not accept Glock mags.

Now onto the different variants. The PSA ARV is available in three pistol variants: A 4-inch barrel, 8-inch barrel, and 10.5-inch barrel. MSRPs are $989.99, $969.99, and $1,039.99, respectively. Meanwhile, the rifle is available with a 16-inch barrel and an MSRP of $1,049.99. The muzzle device on the 4-inch barreled model is a PSA 9mm Fluted Flash Can, while the other two pistols and rifle sport a Birdcage Flash Hider. All three pistols use an SB Tactical SBA3 Pistol Stabilizing Brace, while the rifle uses a Magpul MOE Stock.
