PWS BDE 556 Suppressor: Modular Can Built for AR Use

The number of suppressors at the recent Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous event was incredible. One suppressor in particular definitely stood out to me though. That suppressor was from a company you probably don’t really think about when you think sound suppression, because they have been so good at making a lot of noise over the years. That company is Primary Weapons Systems with their beautiful BDE, or Bravo Delta Echo, suppressor line. The new line of suppressors started with the 7.62 Multi Caliber modular suppressor, but is quickly evolving into other cans. The latest and greatest from that line is the BDE 5.56. You guessed it, a dedicated 5.56 can that is ready to tame your PWS rifles, pistols, and SBRs or any 5.56 caliber firearm for that matter.

PWS BDE 556 Suppressor

Like the original BDE suppressor, the 5.56 is constructed with state-of-the-art 3D titanium printing technology giving it the same state of the art, beautiful look as the original. Putting the two cans next to each other you really can’t tell the difference other than the 5.56 is shorter making it a little lighter weight. The suppressor is constructed of lightweight titanium alloy, commonly used in high-strength components in medical and aerospace applications. The BDE is a modular design allowing for easy customization for any application. The BDE 5.56 ships with two removable baffles allowing you to take the can from 6.5 inches and 13 ounces in its longest configuration to 5.375 inches and 10.9 ounces with the baffles removed.

All the baffles are constructed on a state-of-the-art 3D printer at PWS, then finished on their in-house CNC machines. The 3D printing allows for a more effective, complex, and lighter weight construction of titanium than traditionally machined parts. The entrance chamber is the serialized part since that part must be attached in order to use the suppressor. That piece features 1/2×24 thread pattern, allowing for compatibility with most standard AR barrels.

Taper Threaded Baffle System

The baffles are all taper threaded to minimize carbon lock up, as well as loosening issues. These become common problems on modular cans. The internal baffle notches are symmetrically designed, ensuring top notch accuracy. Meanwhile, the non-modular baffles allow gas to be diverted to lower backpressures. The exterior design of the BDE 5.56 suppressor dissipates heat mirage, keeping shots on target and accurate.

Primary Weapons Systems is known for building some of the best and most innovative firearms on the market and they didn’t stray from that reputation with the new BDE 5.56 suppressor. With a price point right around $1,000 you won’t find a better-looking suppressor that delivers PWS performance and stays hearing safe in all configurations. The modular suppressor is designed to look good and function flawlessly on any rifle with any barrel length in both long and short configurations and anything in between. I highly recommend checking the entire line of PWS suppressors out and all the Primary Weapons Systems products at primaryweapons.com.
