Primary Weapons Systems (PWS) is introducing their new ‘Modern Musket’ series of direct impingement (DI) AR-15 rifles. Check out the video below to see these new rifles in action.
According to an official press release cited by The Truth About Guns, PWS has already started releasing a DI accessory line designed to enhance the AR platform, so the company decided to take the next step by releasing DI AR-15 rifles.
There are two rifles in the “Modern Musket” series, the DI-14 and D-16. The DI-14 boasts a barrel length of 14.5 inches, a muzzle velocity of 2915 ft/sec, and a muzzle energy of 1170 ft-lbs. It also has a permanently pinned muzzle device. The DI-16 has a 16 inch barrel, a 2993 muzzle velocity and a muzzle energy of 1233 ft-lbs. It also sports a removable FSC 556 flash suppressing compensator. Both rifles are chambered in .223 Wylde, and each ships with a Lucid HD7 red-dot sight.
“This DI rifle is your defense rifle: your defense of your home, family, and your right to the freedoms outlined in the Constitution,” the press release reads. “These are the guns the 2nd Amendment was written to protect. As technology advances, our right to keep and bear arms must remain the same. The musket was the greatest weapons advance for a citizen at the time of the American Revolution and today, the AR-15 holds that role.”
