Realtors want to be informed what they can do when showing properties to a gun-carrying customer. The concealed carry law has left businesses with the decision whether to allow guns.
The Rockford Area Association of Realtors says it has seen companies handle it differently.
RAAR says its realtors are choosing to store homebuyers’ guns in the trunk of their car when showing homes, but other offices may have different rules. Realtors say they’re making their decisions regarding concealed carry with the home owner’s safety and comfort level in mind.
“Realtors are going to ask home owners what they’re comfortable with,” said Rockford Area Association of Realtors Executive Steve Bois. Definitely, we’re concerned about that to make sure that we follow the law and at the same time, we respect property rights of home owners.”
