There are a number of after-market manufacturers that will help you transform your plain vanilla Ruger 10/22 to levels limited only by your imagination. Two of the stalwarts in this arena are Troy Industries and Archangel Manufacturing.
Troy Performance
Troy has been offering both its Sport and Tactical T22 aluminum chassis kits to 10/22 fans for the past few years, and these are a great way to transform your mild-mannered plinking gun into something that looks a lot more formidable. Troy markets these aluminum chassis kits as the ultimate low-cost training solutions for military and law enforcement folks, since these 10/22 platforms mimic many of the same features of the standard M4 Carbine while using lower-cost .22 LR ammunition.

Both the T22 Tactical and the T22 Sport are compatible with standard and bull 10/22 barrels up to 0.926 inches in diameter. The difference between the two is in the rail styling, with the Tactical chassis kit utilizing the Troy TRX standard rail, while the Sport employs the TRX Extreme rail. Both rails offer unlimited mounting options for accessories and include spring-loaded Troy BattleSights, an AR-style pistol grip and an adjustable stock. The T22 chassis kits are machined from hardened aircraft aluminum and are finished in a black, mil-spec hardcoat anodizing.
Archangel’s Take
Archangel Manufacturing has worked wonders to expand the limits of the Ruger 10/22. Its latest 10/22 stock upgrades (there were a total of five as of this writing) range from practical to totally far out. The one thing they have in common is that they all offer maximum ergonomic functionality for their intended purpose.
The Archangel stable of radical makeovers includes the AAM1022 Nomad, which features a folding stock, a full-length aluminum Picatinny top rail with sights, an extended magazine release and storage compartments. The AA556R mimics the M4 layout and free-floats any 10/22 barrel up to 0.92 inches in diameter. The top rail allows for AR-style sights, and the bottom rail lets you mount a grip and/or tactical light. The AATS1022 is offered in two flavors for both standard .22 LR and .22 WMR calibers, with a thumbhole layout, an elevated comb and an adjustable length of pull, offered in black and ranger green.

Last but not least is the latest Archangel stock, the AAP1022, which was introduced in early 2015. This new offering features an ambidextrous gooseneck-style stock grip with a palm swell, adjustment knobs for both length of pull and cheek height, a secure grip storage compartment, a flared magazine well and a 6 o’clock Picatinny rail on the forend to attach accessories like bipods, lights, lasers, grips, etc. The AAP1022 is offered in black, desert tan and olive drab.
All Archangel stock kits are easy to install, made in the U.S.A. of high-strength carbon-fiber-filled polymer, are eminently affordable, and are backed by a lifetime warranty.
