The New Ruger-57 Pistol Holds 20 Rounds of 5.7x28mm

Ruger recently announced its newest pistol, the Ruger-57. The Ruger-57 chambers the high-performance, low-recoiling 5.7x28mm. In this new platform, the pistol holds 20+1 rounds of 5.7, delivering plenty of firepower.

The new pistol boasts impressive ergonomics, according to Ruger. The slender steel magazine inserts into a well surrounded by a glass-filled nylon frame. The frame also features an optimized texture, making for a natural, ergonomic grip. Despite the longer cartridges, the trigger reach measure similar to many 9mm pistols. A 1911-style, ambidextrous manual safety, robust slide release and reversible magazine latch highlight the controls.

The flat-shooting 5.7x28mm cartridge delivers impressive ballistic performance. The light weight projectiles and loadings produce significantly less felt recoil than most 9mm loads. Thus, the 5.7 enables faster sight reacquisition.

Windage and elevation adjustable sights feature a serrated rear and fiber-optic front. A Picatinny-style rail enables the addition of accessories. Meanwhile, the Ruger Secure Action fire control provides a short, crisp trigger pull. The slide comes drilled and tapped for optics mounting as well.

“The Ruger-57 is destined to become one of America’s favorite handguns,” said Ruger President and CEO Chris Killoy. “This pistol is soft shooting, accurate, powerful and just plain fun to shoot.”
