The EC9s is a 9mm striker-fired gun with a 7+1 capacity, 3.12-inch barrel, overall thickness of just 0.9 inches and a weight of 17.2 ounces unloaded. It has an overall length of six inches and is 4.5 inches tall, making it just under an inch taller and an inch longer than the Ruger LCP pistol.

The pistol also includes a through-hardened slide and one-piece, high-performance, glass-filled nylon grip frame; finger grip extension floorplate that can be added to the magazine; integrated trigger safety, manual safety, magazine disconnect and an inspection port.

At first glance, the gun is very similar to the older LC9s. However, the two differ in a few areas. First, it includes sights that are machined integrally with the slide and feature glare-reducing, rear face serrations, as opposed to the LC9s which has a dovetailed sight system.

Second, it has a black oxide finish on the slide and barrel, while the LC9s sports a blued finish.

Lastly, it comes with a suggested retail price of just $299, whereas the LC9s is offered at a MSRP of $479.

“No gimmicks, rebates or mail-in offers for gift cards … just the rugged, reliability of the striker-fired LC9s, now with integral sights and a no-hassle price point that won’t break the bank,” Ruger said in an email announcing the gun. “This new Ruger EC9s centerfire pistol is an EDC (everyday carry) pistol that will keep cash in your EDW (everyday wallet).”
