Ruger Expands Its 9mm LC9s Lineup For 2015

The LCP (Lightweight Compact Pistol) series from Ruger in .380 ACP has been extremely popular since its inception. LC9 pistols, chambered in 9mm, offer a bit more power without sacrificing their concealability. Now Ruger is offering the durable, easy-to-use LC9s, a striker-fired variant of the 9mm LC9.

The new LC9s is just as slim, compact and lightweight as the original LC9. It also has a tank-tough polymer frame that is comfortable yet provides plenty of traction when it comes time to actually use the pistol. This strike-fired semi-auto also comes with a crisp 5.5-pound trigger for enhanced speed and precision at close range. For targeting, Ruger outfits the LC9s with low-profile, snag-free front and rear sights that are windage adjustable and set up in a three-dot configuration—another enhancement over some semi-autos currently on the market. We all know that pocket pistol sights can sometimes be an afterthought. But that’s certainly not the case here.

The LC9s features a 3.12-inch barrel, a through-hardened alloy steel slide and a weight of only 17.2 ounces. The magazine holds seven rounds of 9mm ammo. Also new for 2015, Ruger is now offering the LC9s Pro, which has no external manual safety or magazine disconnect. But, it does come with an integrated trigger safety that should help prevent accidental discharges.
