Ruger announced yet another addition to the Ruger Wrangler family of single-action .22 LR revolvers. The Wrangler “Sheriff Model” brings a 3.75-inch plinker into the stable. It should prove to be one heck of a trail gun, small game getter or family fun range day ride.
Ruger Wrangler Updates Line With Sheriff Model
Earlier this year we brought you news of the Birdshead Grip models. They held up to testing and proved the American appetite for period-style Old West guns remains intact. Now the Sheriff Model provides yet another offering to the Wrangler line.
The pistols feature a blade front and integral notch rear sight. Chambered in .22 LR, a transfer bar mechanism and loading gate interlock provide security against accidental discharge, making these great trainers. The cold hammer-forged barrel should deliver great accuracy. Finally, the Cerakote finishes and checkered, synthetic grips round out these affordable packages.
The Wrangler Sheriff Model comes in Black Cerakote, Silver Cerakote and Burnt Bronze Cerakote finishes. Each pistol retails for $269.
On April 22, 2019, Tactical Life reported:
Ruger recently announced its newest single-action revolver, the Wrangler. Built on the legacy of the Ruger Single-Six, the Ruger Wrangler is chambered in .22 LR.
Ruger Wrangler Details
The Ruger Wrangler delivers an economical price, and shoots an even more economical round in the .22 LR, making this revolver one poised to spark family fun on the range.
Bill Ruger’s Single-Six, introduced in 1953, ushered in a new era in the use of modern investment casing in firearms manufacturing, one that brought new affordability to single-action revolvers, according to Ruger.
“Through the use of modern CNC-machining methods, lean manufacturing techniques and a new aluminum alloy cylinder frame, the Wrangler continues this tradition and sets a new bar for affordability while maintaining the rugged reliability that is the hallmark of Ruger firearms,” said a Ruger company release.
The Ruger Wrangler comes in three different Cerakote models, including black, silver and bronze. The single-action revolver also includes checkered black grip panels. Further, these panels can be swapped out with Single-Six panels, delivering many more options via aftermarket. The Wrangler also fits Single-Six holsters that accommodate 4 5/8-inch barrels.
