Safariland has expanded its TCI brand by unveiling the new Liberator IV and Liberator V headsets for law enforcement, military and protective service detail operators.
Both the Liberator IV and Liberator V are multi-mode headsets that allow the user to choose between three audio profiles—active noise reduction (ANR), active noise cancellation (ANC), or dual ANC/ANR—on the go without having to move your firing hand off your weapon. You simply switch between modes with one hand via keystrokes on the headset.
Compatible with over 250 different tactical communication sources, the Liberator IV and V are touted in the press release as being the first of their kind with electronic noise compression and ANC capabilities. They also incorporate ANR advanced sound localization for situational awareness and threat detection. Basically, if you want to go to ANC to reduce constant loud noise or ANR/ANC to allow in ambient audio but reduce constant background noise, these sets give you the ability to do that.
For operators who want a single comms platform, the Liberator IV headset offers several push-to-talk options. The Liberator V comes with a R.4 dual communications push-to-talk feature compatible with radio audio channel enhancement (R.A.C.E.). Both models feature a universal, modular suspension that is easily adjustable without tools for over-the-head, behind-the-head or helmet mounting.
Meanwhile, both headsets come with an industry-first Dual Fuel system, meaning they can run on either two AAA or one CR123 battery and utilize an upgradeable and updatable software using Near Field Communications (NFC) technology, the press release says.
The Liberator IV and Liberator V sport a proprietary glass polymer injection-molded ear cup design, layered with sound barrier technology. They’re offered in black, OD green and flat dark earth (FDE). PTT and cables come in black and FDE.
The price for the Liberator IV isn’t listed on Safariland’s website, but the Liberator V is going for $1,250.
