The Safariland Model 17 and Model 17T are IWB concealment holsters with a hard shellĀ SafariLaminate thermo-formed construction. Both are touted as being thin and flexible, and “lightweight for comfort, yet very durable for everyday wear.” The contouring in the trigger guard offers a detent that enables the holster to stay open for easy re-holstering. In addition, both models fit belts with a width up to 1.75 inches. The Model 17 has a spring steel belt clip to anchor to belts and trousers. The Model 17T has a cant-adjustable J-hook attachment, which makes it tuckable. These holsters have black STX finishes and a MSRP of $38.50. They’re available now, with fits for Colt, Glock, Sig, Smith & Wesson, Springfield and Ruger pistols.
āBuilding upon the momentum we are seeing with IWB holsters, these models will be a top choice for those looking for minimalist, lightweight concealed carry options,ā said James Dawson, duty gear category director at Safariland. āFeaturing a trigger guard detent, as well as extreme thinness and flexibility, these holsters offer security and comfort for appendix or rear hip carry inside the waistband.ā
Safariland Model 557
The Model 557, meanwhile, is an open-top concealment belt slide holster built for light-bearing guns. Its two-in-one design means it fits the firearm with or without a light attached. This low-profile rig sports a wide design for an even weight distribution, resulting in comfortable carry. An ejection port detent secures the gun once its in the holster by gripping onto the ejection port, according to the press release. The gun is drawn easily by pulling through the detent.Ā With its hard shellĀ SafariLaminate construction, the Model 557 fits with a 1.5-inch to 1.75-inch wide belt. The holster fits theĀ Glock 17/22, 19/23, 34/35, Heckler & Koch P30, Sig Sauer P320, Smith & Wesson M&P 9/40 and Walther P99Q handguns with TLR-1, TLR-1HL, Surefire X200, X300, X300U lights, and handguns with red dot sights. It’s available with a black STX finish and has a MSRP of $50.
“Typically, without a light, a concealed carry, close-to-the-body-designed holster may have wiggle room and the handgun could wobble around. The Safariland 557 eliminates this issue since it secures the weapon even without the light,” said James Dawson, duty gear category director at Safariland. “It’s the ideal holster if youāre on a plain clothes 12-hour shift and donāt want to change your holster once you remove your light.”
