PROOF Research is well-known for its rifle barrels, which pretty much blow everything else out of the water. Meanwhile, the Savage Arms 110 is one of the most reliable rifle series available on the market. The all-new Savage 110 Ultralite is what happens when PROOF and Savage get together for some sweet baby (rifle) making.
Shooting the Savage 110 Ultralite
We had Savage Arms join us on the range for the 2020 Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous in Idaho. We shot plenty of goodies, like the Savage Elite Precision in .300 PRC. But the 110 Ultralite was a truly incredible experience.
If you couldn’t figure it out from the name, the goal of the Ultralite was to trim weight; and that’s exactly what Savage did. The rifle weighs in at just 5.8 pounds. Savage designed the rifle for those who carry their guns all day. Can’t ask for much more than a rifle with a “naked” weight of less than 6 pounds.
The rifle also comes with the well-known, user-adjustable AccuTrigger. It’s about as crisp as it gets. Meanwhile, the stock is completely adjustable, from comb height to length of pull.
But the “chef’s kiss” on the rifle is the barrel. The carbon-fiber wrapped PROOF Research stainless steel barrel is a beauty. It also has a threaded muzzle for 5/8 24 with a flush fit cap.
