There are few things that I enjoy more on the range than shooting for accuracy. Validation visible on paper testifies if improvements to one’s grip, hand hold, breathing, sight picture to name a few, is my ultimate reward. One of the few ways there are to improve on this experience is with a gun that makes all of it easier. That is exactly what Savage did when they introduced me to the Savage A22 Precision Lite .22 LR.
Savage A22 Precision Lite Features
This rifle has more features than I ever realized I wanted in a .22 LR, and it goes the distance. My first introduction to this marvelous shooting experience was at the Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous 2021 where for nearly 10 mins straight I was able to ring steel at over 300 meters, with a semi-auto .22! How is that possible you ask? I’ll attempt to summarize just what makes the A22 Precision Lite one of my most enjoyable shooting experiences as of late.
First Impressions and Handling
I was genuinely impressed with this rifle, from the aesthetically pleasing carbon fiber barrel that allows for optimum balance and heat dissipation, to the aluminum chassis that creates a center-balance rimfire rifle that is performance ready right out of the box. This rifle has combined so many more features that truly take a .22lr to the next level. The adjustable length-of-pull and comb height can work for any user/optic/position combination. Completing the human interface is a user-adjustable AccuTrigger; a two-state trigger developed by the Savage Arms Company in 2002, that allows the shooter to adjust the weight of the pull of the trigger to their preferred comfort.
An over-sized charging handle in red not only adds to the “curb appeal” of this rifle, but is a great ease of use feature giving the shooter more to grab, a must when mounting a larger optic, when shooting gloved, or for rapid access. All of this nestled comfortably into a MDT Chassis system that’s ergonomically designed to increase accuracy. A button-rifled, stainless steel, 18” barrel carbon fiber wrapped with a flush cap barrel further enhances accuracy. Threaded of course for more polite shooting with a suppressor, or the addition of the muzzle device of your choice.
Final Thoughts
All these features make this a truly custom feeling rifle that is versatile enough for the whole family to enjoy. Whether you just want to enjoy a casual day plinking at the range, testing your limits at shooing the distance with this .22 LR or you’re looking for a competition companion, one couldn’t go wrong adding the A22 Precision Lite to the collection. I’m looking forward to getting more time with the Savage A22 Precision Lite when I get to work on the full review for an upcoming issue of Tactical Life Magazine.
