Savage engineers tuned the barrel length specifically for the 224 Valkyrie cartridge. The goal is to achieve peak accuracy at extreme range, according to Savage Arms. Additionally, the MSR 15 Long Range barrel features a two-port muzzle brake. Also, the brake mounts to the barrel using Savage’s proprietary taper-lock interface. The adjustable brake enables shooters to tune the recoil impulse and stabilize the muzzle for faster, more accurate follow-up shots, according to Savage Arms.
The rifle also features a custom-length gas system paired with a low-profile adjustable gas block. The system fits inside a free-float handguard with M-LOK attachment system. The gas block itself also features adjustability to deliver optimum cycling with a full range of bullet weights. Further, the unit helps users adjust to fit suppressor needs as well.
The MSR 15 Long Range utilizes a Nickel boron bolt carrier. Meanwhile, the upper and lower receivers are forged. Finally, a two-stage trigger, non-reciprocating side charging handle and Hogue pistol grip round out the features.
