Savage Arms doesn’t need much of an introduction when it comes to rifles. The manufacturer has some of the best rifles on the market when talking hunting and long range. With the release of the Savage MSR 15 Competition and Savage MSR 10 Competition HD rifles, clearly competition is now in Savage’s sight (pun intended).

Savage says it “built the speed, accuracy and customization competitive shooters need to win” with its two latest releases. Let’s break them down further.
Savage MSR 15 Competition
Savage fits the MSR 15 Competition with an 18-inch, carbon fiber-wrapped, stainless barrel built specifically for the rifle in a collaborative effort with PROOF Research. Its unique ported muzzle brake allows the shooter to tune recoil impulse and stabilize the muzzle for faster, more accurate follow-up shots.
The custom-length gas block is adjustable for optimal cycling of the full range of bullet weights, as well as for use with a suppressor. Savage also upgraded the gas block with an integral Picatinny rail and a custom handguard.
Other Features
- Nickel-boron bolt carrier
- Custom-forged upper and lower receivers
- Non-reciprocating side charging handle

Savage MSR 10 Competition HD
The Savage MSR 10 Competition HD is similar in build to its MSR 15 Competition relative. The first noticeable difference is the caliber: .308 Win.
The MSR 10 Competition HD features the same barrel as the MSR 15; again, developed in collaboration with PROOF Research. The ported muzzle brake is also the same.
5R rifling rounds out the rifle, while other features are the same as those listed for the MSR 15.
