SB Tactical Reveals New FS1913 Pistol Stabilizing Brace

SB Tactical, the granddaddy of the pistol stabilizing brace, has added yet another brace to its lineup, giving users more options in that increasingly competitive market. This latest brace is called the FS1913.

The FS1913 is described as a low-profile, left side-folding, strut-design built to work with platforms using an M1913 interface at the rear of the receiver. If you picture models like the Sig Sauer MPX, the SIG MCX, the SIG Rattler, and the Rock River Arms LAR-PDS, you’re in the ballpark in terms of compatible setups.

Shipped out ready to install as a complete assembly, the FS1913 sports an advanced billet steel-hinge that firmly locks in both the folded and extended positions. The pull-through designs offers rapid deployment and solid lock-up when extended, SB Tactical says in its press release.

Similar to SB Tactical’s other braces, the FS1913 is ATF compliant. In April 2017, the ATF issued a letter clarifying that it is legal to shoulder the SB Tactical’s pistol stabilizing braces. Here’s the most important part of the agency’s clarification of opinion letter:

With respect to stabilizing braces, ATF has concluded that attaching the brace to a handgun as a forearm brace does not “make” a short-barreled rifle because in the configuration as submitted to and approved by FATD, it is not intended to be and cannot comfortably be fired from the shoulder. If, however, the shooter/possessor takes affirmative steps to configure the device for use as a shoulder-stock — for example, configuring the brace so as to permanently affix it to the end of a buffer tube, (thereby creating a length that has no other purpose than to facilitate its use as a stock), removing the arm-strap, or otherwise undermining its ability to be used as a brace — and then in fact shoots the firearm from the shoulder using the accessory as a shoulder stock, that person has objectively “redesigned” the firearm for the purposes of the NFA.

MSRP on the M1913 is $249.99. See the features and specs below.
