SCCY’s 9mm Compact Turns Pink

The CPX-2 from SCCY (pronounced “sky”), now available in black and pink or satin stainless and pink, is an excellent addition to the compact 9mm market. It is highly affordable, but offers many features found on much pricier guns—such as the two included 10-round magazines with pinky extensions. The CPX-2 has no manual safety, and it is double action only. In my opinion, on a compact defensive handgun, a manual safety is just something else to remember. So I’m happier without it. With its 9-pound trigger pull, shooting the gun takes some practice, but with experience the CPX-2 is easily manageable. The backstrap design is cushioned for added comfort, which helps compensate for the light weight.

At 5.7 inches long and 4 inches high, the CPX-2 is comfortable to conceal. This little baby weighs only 15 ounces—or less than 1 pound. Again, shooting so small a handgun accurately requires practice on the range, but the CPX-2 is a joy to carry. With its slim dimensions, it’s easy to fit into a non-gun-specific carry option like a carry purse or belly or thigh band.

My favorite thing about the CPX-2 was its substantial slide lock button. It is slightly larger than those on most of the other offerings, and is easy to reach and manipulate. This will make locking the slide back easy. The CPX-2 was comfortable to handle and should be a good fit for most women. All in all, the reliable and affordable CPX-2 is a great little contribution to the world of compact handguns.
