The Shadow Systems MR920P Sports an Integrated Compensator

At SHOT Show this year, Shadow Systems announced the release of its latest 9mm with integrated compensator—the MR920P. Utilizing a compensator that is only half an inch long, the pistol still comfortably fits in G17 holsters. In addition, since the integral compensator does not use a threaded barrel, it is available in many jurisdictions with threaded barrel restrictions.

Building on the company’s longtime best-selling model, the MR920, the MR920P features configurable ergonomics. Correspondingly, the textured polymer frame includes interchangeable backstraps, allowing shooters to adjust the grip angle. As a result, users can dial in the natural point of aim for enhanced accuracy and handling. In addition, the extended beavertail and trigger guard undercut help to reduce recoil and increase controllability.

Riding atop the frame is the 17-4 stainless steel slide with directional cocking serrations for easy manipulation. The slide also features an optic cut, which will accommodate the RDS footprint. Likewise, suppressor height sights help ensure co-witnessing with an installed optic and include a black serrated rear sight and green outline tritium dot front sight.

Within the slide is a match-grade, spiral-fluted barrel chambered in 9mm with a bronze TiCN finish. Affixed to the barrel is the compensator, using a patent-pending QD attachment system. Using a 3-lug muzzle in combination with a centrally located locking lever in the body of the comp eliminates the need for a threaded barrel. As a result, the MR920P is available in many jurisdictions with threaded barrel restrictions.

Designed to create the most effective use of space, the all-steel compensator is only half an inch long. Because of this, the MR920P will fit in standard Glock G17 holsters.

The compensator is designed with a focus on reliability and is meant to be used with standard-weight factory springs. Likewise, it welcomes a variety of bullet weights and has withstood the testing of thousands of rounds without cleaning. According to the company, testers reported noticing a 40% reduction in muzzle rise, and there was no loss of reliability or carbon lockout.

The MR920P features a drop-safe, flat-faced trigger with a 4.5-5.0-pound trigger pull and crisp, tactile reset. Likewise, the pistol delivers a 15+1-round capacity.
