Law enforcement is a tough enough job, so when the boys and girls in blue make a request, the firearms industry listens. Such is the case with the Shadow Systems XR920 Crossover Pistol. Born of custom requests for law enforcement, the XR920 features enhancements uniquely suited to a mission ready pistol.
Shadow Systems XR920 Crossover Pistols
The XR920 comes in two models, the Combat and Elite, both starting with an ergonomic polymer frame. Similar to other pistols in the Shadow Systems line, the XR920 includes the Natural Point-of-Aim (NPOA) backstraps. As a result, the user can match the way the muzzle points to their natural point of aim. Likewise, shooters can choose between low (1911-style), neutral (similar to many models on the market) and high (for higher muzzle orientation).
The frame also features an extended beavertail, that positions the pistol ultra-low in the shooter’s hand. Thus, eliminating slide bite. In addition, a recoil thumb ledge helps to reduce muzzle flip and enhances control of the pistol. The thumb ledge additionally helps shooters remain on target for increased accuracy on follow-up shots.
Although they share similarities, where the Combat and Elite differ is in the slide. Both slides are machined from 17-4 stainless steel and feature a compact length that is quicker out of the holster. In addition, both include a patented optic cut, providing the strongest, lowest, multi-footprint optics mounting system on the market today, according to the company.
The slide of the entry-level Combat features forward and rear directional left- and right-side serrations. However, the Elite features the same serrations as well as topside serrations and a weight-optimizing window on either side. Nestled within the slide on both models is a match grade, stainless steel spiral fluted barrel. The barrel is available in a threaded or unthreaded option and includes a black nitride or bronze Titanium Carbonate finish.
Chambered in 9mm, each XR920 has a 17+1 capacity, reducing the amount of reloads necessary. Each model ships with two magazines.
