The Shield RMS2 features a strengthened lens housing and updated electronics. Improved battery contacts also help further enhance reliability. A glass coated polymer lens continues to provide shatterproof and scratch-resistant protection.

The RMS2 also lacks a batter draw to further strengthen the housing, removing additional points of failure, according to Shield. Meanwhile, the footprint includes four location posts and two screws to ensure a consistent and secure interface to hold the sight in place.
