Smart Target System
The Smart Target System forms an integral part of the SIG Connect system. The Smart Target System is an intelligent, electronic scoring system. It enables detecting which zone the bullet hits on the target. This feature allows for precise tracking of shots, enabling you to improve your accuracy and precision. There are no more walks to the target or looking through a scope or binoculars, no patching targets and no external timers. The Smart Target System eliminates the need, allowing you to concentrate on your shooting.
One of the standout features of the Smart Target System is its ability to provide real-time feedback. When the system detects a hit, it sends the information in real time to the SIG Connect app via Bluetooth connection. This allows you to instantly see the results of your shots, helping them make immediate adjustments and improvements. The effective range of the Smart Target System varies from 10 to 100 meters (32 to 320 feet) depending on the environment, the device used, and its orientation.
The Smart Target System Control module features a 6mm-thick HARDOX steel plate shield. The shield withstands impact from all standard pistol calibers, so the unit holds up to a few errant rounds before rendered out of commission.
Control Module
The Control Module operates on four AAA batteries (included). Alkaline batteries deliver the best results. To replace the batteries, simply unscrew the two bolts located on the front of the Control Module with the included hex key, remove the front shield, replace all batteries, put the front shield back, and refasten the bolts.
The Smart Target System is fully compatible with the SIG Connect app. This allows you to track your progress and analyze your performance in a comprehensive manner. The app provides a range of features including tracking hits, individual reaction times, as well as split times between multiple hits.
When you purchase the Smart Target System, you’ll get a set of five Multizone Smart Targets. Each target features five circular scoring zones of different sizes and point values. The smallest circles offer the highest points. These targets are great for practicing target transitions and can be used for both rifle and pistol practice.
The Smart Targets are made of cardboard and special conductive layers which detect bullets passing through a targeted zone. This intelligent design allows the Smart Target System to accurately detect which zone of the target was hit. SIG Sauer currently offers four different Smart Targets — USPSA, IPSC, Multizone, Four Square, and Bullseye.
The cardboard Smart Targets detect only metal bullets. Coated bullets and non-metal training rounds are not recommended. Also, avoid using the targets in a damp or rainy environment as it may affect the performance. Each target can withstand from 150 to 300 shots, dependent on the caliber and your accuracy.
SIG Connect App
The SIG Connect app allows you to analyze and improve your shooting performance in real-time. As mentioned, the app is compatible with the Smart Target System. It also enables you to compete with others in the SIG Connect community, or tackle one of the many shooting challenges.
The app also offers you an entire library of SIG Sauer Academy skill-building lessons, drills, and exclusive content right at your fingertips using your mobile device. These courses help you train and improve your skills anytime, anywhere. You can can use the smart target system within the app for free and also access a selection of training and entertainment content.
The premium tier now also offers a new innovative way to track hits and calculate group size using just your smartphone camera and a target you can print at home, called Optical Hit Detection (OHD). OHD, within the SIG Connect app, can even digitally paste your holes downrange so you spend more time training, and less time covering holes.
The app is free to download on both the Apple App store and Google Play store. All users get instant access to some training and entertainment content for free. At $9.99 per month with first month trial free, Premium users get access to over 150 pieces of training and entertainment content. The app is continuously being updated with additional features.
Simple Setup
The Smart Target System package includes an electronic Control Module, a hex wrench, a buckle, two wing nuts, and a length of paracord. Setup is a breeze.
Simply remove the battery insulation tab from the Control Module. Unscrew the wing nuts and remove the steel buckle. Attach the Conductive Target to the module through both holes in the top of the target, ensuring springs touch each black line on the front of the target. Reinstall the buckle and hand tighten the wing nuts. Your Smart Target System is now ready.
The Smart Target System hangs or suspends using the included paracord. The module has two holes through the Hardox shield on the Control Module for this purpose. Due to the weight of the system, you should always check with the range officer before sending it downrange. Using it where it can be can be secured in a stationary position, such as at an outdoor range, is ideal. The face of the Control Module should be angled slightly downward.
Turn the Control Module on and connect it to your Bluetooth-enabled device and start shooting. Always follow all safety precautions and instructions provided with the Smart Target System.
