Can you say, “Gig ‘Em!” The cadets from Texas A&M topped a stacked field of military academies to claim the title at this year’s SIG Relentless Warrior Championship. More than 125 shooters competed in an event unlike any other in the firearm industry.

Texas A&M Sweeps SIG Relentless Warrior Championship

“This is a program win for my cadets,” said head coach Kevin Jimmerson, ’89, of North Zulch, Texas. “Due to the elite challenge of this match, it takes seniors to win. Of my cadets, only one has ever shot in competition before joining the team. This win speaks to their work ethic, their embrace of our team culture and motto “Omnis Gloria Fluxa,” and the assistance I receive from our Team Advisor, Gunny John Regan, USMS (ret.) and Assistant Coach Dave Reichet, ’96.”

This year marked the largest SRWC in the event’s history hosting one hundred and twenty-six competitors. Cadets from the Air Force Academy, Coast Guard Academy, Royal Military College of Canada, University of North Georgia, Texas A&M, Merchant Marine Academy, Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VA Tech), West Point, The Citadel, and Virginia Military Institute (VMI) competed at the SIG SAUER Academy in Epping, New Hampshire over two days of stiff competition. At the conclusion of the event, competitors were honored at an awards banquet featuring retired US Army Lt. General John Deedrick. 

Stacked Field of Competitors

The SIG Relentless Warrior Challenge consisted of six challenging stages, testing competitors’ skills in marksmanship, teamwork, and leadership through mission focused themes. After a hard-fought battle with the New England cold, wind, rain, snow, and defending West Point champions, Texas A&M brought home the title of 2025 SIG Relentless Warrior Champion. 

“On behalf of all the Cadets and Mid-shipmen who attended, I am very grateful to SIG SAUER for the time and effort committed to this event. I have coached 12 years of this match, and this was hands down the best organized and executed,” said Kevin Jimmerson, Marksmanship Instructor & Coach, Texas A&M Corps of Cadets Marksmanship Unit (CCMU).

“Competition is not about winning but improving your deficiencies. This is a vitally important lesson for these young men and women who will soon be leading young Americans in defense of our Country,” continued Mr. Jimmerson. “This Texas A&M team developed confidence and competence. We brought everything with us we needed to win this match.”

West Point Wins 4th Consecutive SIG Relentless Warrior Championship

The U.S. Military Academy at West Point Combat Weapons team recently won its fourth consecutive SIG Relentless Warrior Championship. The team won the 2024 crown, topping a field made up of the elite military academies from across the country.

The event comprised 113 cadets from the United States Air Force Academy, United States Naval Academy, United States Coast Guard Academy, United States Military Academy at West Point, Norwich University, Texas A & M, The Citadel, Virginia Military Institute, Virginia Tech, the Royal Military College of Canada, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The shooting competition took place at the SIG SAUER Academy in Epping, New Hampshire followed by an award banquet featuring Medal of Honor recipient Sergeant Major Thomas P. Payne as the guest speaker.

The course of fire consisted of six mission stages that tested the marksmanship and leadership skills of these future military leaders.  For the fourth year in a row, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point Combat Weapons Team defended their title to earn the honor of 2024 SIG Relentless Warrior Champion.

The SIG Relentless Warrior Championship

Cadets from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point took the title last year. They faced competition from the United States Air Force Academy, Naval Academy, Coast Guard Academy, Virginia Military Institute, Texas A&M and the Merchant Marine Academy.

The 2020 event planned to feature Team SIG Members. Competitive shooters Max Michel, Lena Miculek and Daniel Horner would serve as honorary match safety officers. Then SIG planned shooting clinics and demonstrations for the match participants.

However, due to the continued progression of COVID-19, SIG cancelled the competition on March 16. SIG announced it planned to resume the competition in 2021.
