Defense contractors ST Aerospace, which is based in Singapore, and Alenia Aermacchi, based in Italy, are set to deliver the final 12 M-346 advanced trainer aircraft to the Singapore Air Force, according to a Feb. 12 announcement made at the Singapore Airshow.
Thus far, Singapore has received 10 Alenia M-346 transonic trainer aircraft, in addition to ground-based training systems and a logistics support package, Defense News reports. The Singapore Air Force conducted the first test flight of the M-346 in March 2013.
“This event marked the beginning of the full spectrum 3rd generation integrated pilot training systems for the [Republic of Singapore Air Force] and it was also an important milestone for the M-346 program,” ST said in a press release. “The close collaboration between ST Aerospace (“prime contractor”) and its partners, Alenia Aermacchi and The Boeing Company, has allowed for the achievement of these important milestones.”
