TOPS Knives knows what its consumers want. Every so often a situation arises where a small knife with the sturdiness of a big blade is needed, specifically one with a narrow blade.

The Rocky Mountain Spike is the result of several months of testing and fine-tuning in the field.

The original design was to be a sidekick or an add-on to a big knife, like a TOPS Machete or a Power Eagle, to give the user a variety of other applications on smaller projects.

After using and abusing the prototypes in the field, those that tested the Rocky Mountain Spike saw a wide variety of cutting, scraping, splitting, EDC and separating tasks this tool could be used for effectively.

It can be worn on the user’s belt or pack, in their boot or any other practical place you want it. The finger grooved handle allows for a sure grip when in use.

Each of these tools are individually, differentially heat-treated to perfection. The user can actually see the heat treat line near the edge of the blade thanks to Leo “the Lion” Espinoza’s now famous Black River Washprocess. Using a variation of that process, TOPS Knives created a new finish it calls sandstorm bronze.

The Rocky Mountain Spike normally has an MSRP of $79.95, but is currently on sale for $63.95 thanks to an introductory price.
