VIDEO: First Look at the Just-Announced Smith & Wesson 9 EZ Pistol

Smith & Wesson launched its “EZ” line in 2018 with the M&P 380 Shield EZ. Obviously chambered in .380 ACP, the purpose behind the line, as the name would indicate, is ease of use. Smith & Wesson wanted something for new shooters to make everyday carry easy. The launch was a tremendous success. With that in mind, it comes as no surprise that Smith & Wesson just announced the expansion of the EZ to 9mm, with the introduction of the all-new Smith & Wesson 9 EZ pistol.

Smith & Wesson 9 EZ Details

We’ve actually known about the 9 EZ for sometime now. We got our hands on it for the first time at the 2019 Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous. The 380 EZ impressed when we first shot it in 2018; the 9 EZ was no different. It’s compact, clean, and a pleasure to shoot.

As with the .380 model, the new 9mm version boasts an easy-to-rack slide, easy-to-load magazine, and easy-to-clean design. Beyond that, it performs like the many other pistols in the popular M&P family — in other words, it’s accurate and reliable.

Another factor, especially with an “entry level” gun, is price. There are four variants of the 9 EZ: Manual Thumb Safety, No Thumb Safety, Manual Thumb Safety With a Crimson Trace Red Laserguard, and No Thumb With a Crimson Trace Red Laserguard. All four models retail for the exact same price of $479. That’s right, adding a laser to your pistol costs nothing more — the benefits of Smith & Wesson having acquired Crimson Trace.
