New Smith & Wesson Model 66 for 2014!
The Smith & Wesson Model 66, a stainless steel version of the Model 19 Combat Magnum, was introduced in 1970 and became an immediate hit with law enforcement. Based on the K-frame platform dating from 1899, this 6-shot .357 Magnum combined power with portability.
In 2005, as revolvers became passé in the autoloader-dominated law enforcement market, the Model 66 was discontinued. Now, just eight years later, the Model 66 is back! Weighing in at 36.6 ounces, this DA/SA revolver has a 4.25-inch barrel, 9.69-inch overall length and six-round capacity. Other features include a fully adjustable rear sight, red ramp front sight and combat-style black synthetic grips. I shot one at an outdoor range and its accuracy and controllability were everything that I remember from past experiences.
