Smith & Wesson made huge news today with the announcement of the M&P12 Bullpup Shotgun. Smith & Wesson M&P12 Details
Over at Tactical Life, Robert Jordan blasted away at the range, getting his first shots downrange with the new bullpup design. And he came away totally impressed. Check out the video, as it clearly demonstrates this new shotgun as a heavy hitter.
The M&P12 comes fully loaded with features in a compact, CQB-worthy design. It eats 3-inch shells like a champ. But it also easily digests 2 3/4-inch and even mini-shells, seriously upping the payload potential. It also comes fully ambidextrous as well. An M&P-style grip and Picatinny rail only add to the appeal.
“Smith & Wesson has a long, storied history of making handguns for self-defense, yet no conversation around personal protection can be complete without mentioning the 12 gauge shotgun,” said Kyle Tengwall, Vice President of Marketing, Smith & Wesson. “With the introduction of the new M&P12, Smith & Wesson is able to offer our consumers a personal protection product in a variety of categories: pistol, revolver, rifle, and shotgun. Today, we’re excited to unveil the M&P12 – a new category introduction for Smith & Wesson, and a firearm that’s purpose-built for protection and a blast to shoot at the range.”
Built for Home Defense
The pump-action design features two independent magazine tubes. Each utilizes load-assist buttons to simplify loading and unloading. Each tube holds up to seven rounds of standard 2 3/4-inch shells or up to six rounds of 3-inch magnums. Users select magazine tubes via a simple, push-button selector. It also provides a visual cue to which tube is actually feeding the gun.
AR-style controls come fully ambidextrous, including the safety selector. Four interchangeable palmswell grip inserts deliver familiar versatility to M&P fans. The shotgun measures 27.8 inches overall, making it extremely well-suited for tight spaces. M-LOK slots on the barrel shroud enable users to bolt on a host of lights, lasers and other desired accessories. Modified and Cylinder choke tubes, along with a foam-lined case and choke wrench, round out this impressive package.
