Smith & Wesson released its highly-anticipated M&P M2.0 pistol to great fanfare back in January. Now the iconic gun maker is upping the ante by announcing it is now shipping out the M&P45 M.2.0 chambered in — you guessed it — .45 Auto.

“The new M&P M2.0 is one of the most advanced production pistols on the market today, and the consumer and law enforcement response to the 9mm and .40 S&W configurations has been remarkable, with several agencies currently evaluating the pistol. The M&P45 M2.0 features all of the enhancements found in the popular M&P M2.0 platform, and was an essential addition to the M&P M2.0 product line. The .45 Auto is a common caliber for personal, sporting and professional use, and we are pleased to announce that the M&P45 M2.0 is now available for purchase in stores across the nation,” Matt Buckingham, president of Smith & Wesson’s Firearms Division, said in a statement.
The M&P M2.0 platform boasts an extended stainless steel chassis and high grip to barrel bore axis ratio for reduced muzzle rise and faster aim recovery. In addition, it features a fine-tuned, crisper trigger with a lighter pull and a tactile and audible reset. Also included is an aggressively-textured grip and four interchangeable backstraps for optimal hand fit and trigger reach.
Originally only available in 9mm and .40 S&W, the polymer, striker-fired M&P M2.0 in .45 Auto sports a 4.6-inch barrel; an overall length of 7.9 inches; and weighs in at 27 ounces. It also has a 10+1 capacity and comes in a matte black or FDE finish. MSRP is $599.
