Sneak Peek: AAC’s Stealth Ti-RANT .45 Suppressor

The Ti-RANT sound suppressor from Advanced Armament Corporation (AAC) has earned a reputation for suppressing .45 ACP firearms, as well as many competitors’ 9mm pistol suppressors. The average dry sound signature of the Ti-RANT .45 is 133 decibels. With a wet charge of 5 cubic centimeters of water, the sound signature drops to 125 decibels. To put it another way, AAC’s .45-caliber sound suppressor is quieter than some companies’ .22 Long Rifle suppressors. More than just a quiet sound suppressor, however, the Ti-RANT’s construction and materials prevent the undesirable first-round “pop” common with many suppressors on the market today. And, pistons are available in the most common 9mm and .40 thread patterns to allow the Ti-RANT .45 to be used on hosts in those calibers.

The .45-caliber Ti-RANT does not stand out among a throng of competitors just because of its good performance. The intelligent material selection that went into its design gives the Ti-RANT unequalled durability in a deceptively lightweight package that tips the scales at 11.5 ounces. The overall length is just shy of 8.75 inches while its diameter measures 1.38 inches.

Extensive range testing with this sound suppressor mounted on a Remington R1 Enhanced Threaded Barrel 1911 reveals that this accessory lives up to its reputation. As expected, the added weight hanging on the muzzle puts the point of impact about 4 inches low at 25 yards when compared to firing the same pistol without a suppressor in place, so extra-high sights will help keep a semi-auto .45 fitted with this suppressor on target. It currently takes about nine months for the BATFE to approve individual acquisitions of Class III weapons, but this suppressor is definitely worth the weight. Its suggested retail price is $850.
