Nighthawk Short Barreled 12 Gauge Shotgun Review

First arriving in 1949, the venerable 870 shotgun has been a reliable and rugged partner of law enforcement. But officers and special users also needed shorter, more compact shotguns for close-quarters work such as in and around the vehicle. Now that call has been brilliantly answered once again, by Nighthawk’s ultimate in dynamic entry weapons: a custom 12 gauge Remington 870 short-barrel shotgun. It features a 14-inch barrel, a 33-inch overall length and a stock and forend sporting a Duracoat snake-skin camo finish that makes for a real eye-catching weapon. And when author Rob Garrett got the Nighthawk 870 on the range, the gun delivered some surprises. He notes, “Combined with the Vang VCS and ported barrel, the Nighthawk 870 actually performs as well, if not better, than some service shotguns.” To learn more, check out the August 2013 issue of Special Weapons for Military & Police, available on newsstands and digitally on June 25, 2013.
