SNEAK PEEK: WALTHER PPQ M2 .40

Walther has a long history of making reliable handguns, and it’s developed a reputation for developing some of the most cutting-edge pistols on the market. In the upcoming September 2013 issue of Combat Handguns, author Denis Prisbrey goes hands on with the new PPQ M2 in .40 to test the latest generation of Walther design.

The PPQ M2 retains some of the features of the PPQ introduced in 2011—including its polymer frame, beveled mag well, corrosion-resistant slide, 4.1-inch barrel, interchangeable backstraps, squared triggerguard and striker-fired action. But the M2 has an updated magazine release that should be a boon to American shooters as well as a fast short-reset trigger. Prisbrey is also quick to note the gun’s ergonomics: “The grip is superlative, both the slide release and the magazine release are easily reachable…and the triggerguard is large enough for a gloved finger and long enough for the trigger finger to quickly slip down into from an ‘on-alert’ carry position without running into the forward edge of the guard.”
