Springfield launched the XD-M Elite 3.8″ Compact last year, bringing a 14+1 capacity of 9mm to bear in a well-executed EDC package. Then earlier this year Springfield Armory followed it up with the XD-M Elite 3.8″ Compact OSP. The new variant met the growing need for carry-optics users, even accommodating Springfield’s new Hex optics.

Now the line mature again with an OSP offering chambered in .45 ACP. It delivers 10+1 capacity in a compact package. Further, it retains fully ambidextrous controls and the META trigger. Finally, a short, flared magwell promotes solid mag changes.

The OSP designation stands for “Optical Sight Pistol.” The platform accepts a wide range of red dot optics, using interchangeable optic-mounting plates. Springfield also offers a version equipped with the HEX Dragonfly. The 3.5 MOA red dot typically retails fro around $650, yet the entire pistol package comes in at $843.
