Springfield Emissary 1911: Blending Custom Styling in a Defensive Pistol

Springfield Armory made big news today, announcing the launch of its newest 1911, the Emissary. Built specifically for defensive use, the Emissary attempts to bridge the gap between duty and custom handguns, while including great styling for 1911 aficionados.

“This newest addition to the 1911 family of pistols provides an excellent option for a defensive handgun with an additional measure of refinement,” says Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory. “The modern features on this classic pistol platform make this a must-have for 1911 lovers and anyone who wants a top-of-the-line defensive pistol.”

At first glance, the Emissary successfully blends form and function. The defensive pistol comes loaded with custom-grade features. It utilizes a forged stainless steel frame and forged carbon steel slide. An eye-catching two-tone finish sets it apart. The blued carbon steel slide pairs with a stainless steel frame. It features a distinctive squared trigger guard, brining additional room for operating with a gloved hand.

The slide’s “Tri-Top” cut gives the Emissary further unique styling. A flattened top strap comes finish with 40 LPI serrations, diffusing light and reducing glare. On top, a tritium and luminescent front sight gets you on target. It pairs with a Tactical Rack U-Dot for a fast sight picture in all lighting conditions, according to Springfield.

Inside, a bushingless heavy stainless steel bull barrel delivers maximum accuracy. It also reduces felt recoil and muzzle flip. Additionally, the Emissary’s skeletonized hammer delivers ultra-fast lock times. It combines with a solid-body, flat-faced trigger for performance, according to Springfield.

The forged stainless frame’s front strap and mainspring housing come wrapped in a grenade-patter texture for grip. It matches with slim line grip panels from VZ Grips, machined from G10. Meanwhile, a Picatinny accessory rail integrated into the frame accepts a light or laser.

Each Emissary ships with two eight-round stainless steel magazines with base pads. The pistol retails for $1,279. For even more info, please visit springfield-armory.com.
