Last November, Springfield Armory decided to take the plunge and enter the world of ARs. And we’re glad they did. Ideal for defense — but equally at home on plinking and competition ranges — we’ve found through testing that the 5.56mm Springfield SAINT is loaded with top-notch features at an affordable price point.
Needless to say, there’s been a lot of discussion around this gun. Looking to push the hype train even further, Springfield Armory has launched a new YouTube video series called Night of the SAINT. It’s basically a shooting and endurance competition, with reality show elements, featuring six everyday women who, according to the press release, “have chosen to seize control of their safety.” These women are not pro shooters or in full-time tactical professions.
Here’s what “seizing control of their safety” involves: a rigorous five-day training program led by former Navy SEAL and professional defense trainer Eric Frohardt. Every day, the group spends at least six hours shooting the Springfield SAINT in a bunch of different tactical situations. It all leads up to an intense five-scenario course to be completed in one night, the Night of the SAINT.
Only the top three competitors — graded on shooting proficiency, attitude, gun safety and situational awareness — will make to the final Night of the SAINT event. The winner of the contest will be announced on April 11. In the meantime, you can check out the first seven episodes of the series in the video playlist above.
