The Spyderco C170GP Karahawk is a synthesis of the classic karambit and a state-of-the-art modern folding knife design.

The blade is saber ground VG-10 stainless steel to provide an exceptional balance of strength, edge geometry, and corrosion resistance. Its engineered curve ensures exceptional cutting leverage and instinctively centers the blade’s point in the user’s grip. The blade also features Ernest Emerson’s patented Emerson Opener feature which is an integral hook on the back of the blade that snags the corner of the pocket as the knife is drawn, rotating the blade into the open position as the knife clears the pocket.

The Karahawk’s handle is constructed of twin skeletonized stainless steel liners that extend to form the karambit ring at the butt end. They are capped with black G-10 scales and a solid stainless steel back spacer. A back lock with a David Boye Dent ambidextrously locks the blade in the open position. To keep its overall size as compact as possible, the Karahawk’s handle design encourages the user to insert either index finger or little finger into the ring, reducing the overall size of the knife and ensuring a secure grip and control compared to longer-handled knives. The handle is designed to favor a full grip and therefore does not include a “brake”—an indent on the back of the handle adjacent to the ring. For deployment in either a standard or reverse grip, the folder includes a reversible hourglass clip configured for tip-up carry making it truly ambidextrous in all respects.
