We broke news in January about Standard Mfg’s wild-looking, double-barrel S333 pistol. The immediate buzz around the pistol was certainly warranted. It simultaneously fires two rounds of .22 WMR with each pull of the trigger. With a capacity of eight rounds, Standard says it only takes three seconds for all four trigger pulls.

Well, the day has finally arrived and, as of Thursday, July 11, the pistol is officially available to the general public.

A New Look

Originally called the “S333 Volleyfire,” the new pistol has been renamed the S333 Thunderstruck. Standard Mfg developed the pistol for personal protection.

The S333 Thunderstruck features a blade-style safety on the trigger, which must be depressed before the trigger can be pulled. The travel of the trigger then actuates a transfer bar, which will only then allow the gun to fire. This will only occur with a complete pull of the trigger. No other revolver on the market has this type of safe and reliable system, according to Standard Mfg.

One question we saw often on social media: “Would the ATF consider the pistol a machine gun because of two shots with one trigger pull?”

We spoke directly with the team at Standard Manufacturing, who said, “The S333 is not subjected to the NFA provision because it does not meet the ATF definition of a ‘machine gun.’ It is, however, defined as a ‘firearm’ of the ‘pistol’ type.”
