Whether you are duty-bound or focused on home defense, a good tactical flashlight is a necessity. However, you are often left with a choice between high lumens or long run time. But that has changed with the new ProTac 2.0 series from Streamlight. Now you get the best of both worlds in one small package.
The Streamlight ProTac 2.0 Series
Constructed of 6000 series machined aircraft aluminum with an anodized finish, the ProTac 2.0 is robust and durable. As a result, it is tested for impact resistance to two meters. Likewise, the light has an IP67 rating, providing dust and waterproof operation when submerged in one meter for 30 minutes.
Measuring 6.10 inches long and weighing 8.25 ounces with the included battery, the ProTac features an anti-roll head and gasket-sealed lens. Utilizing a multi-function, push-button tactical tail switch permits one-handed operation or momentary, variable intensity, or strobe modes. Carrying the ProTac is easy via the multi-position pocket clip or holster.
Operating on Streamlight’s new proprietary Lithium-Ion SL-B50 battery pack, the single battery provides run times between 2.5 – 25 hours. The battery is rechargeable either in the flashlight via a sliding sleeve that reveals the USB-C port or outside of the light via an integrated USB-C port.
Featuring the latest in LED technology, the ProTac 2.0 offers extreme brightness in three operating modes. High delivers 2,000 lumens and 17,300 candelas. Medium provides 570 lumens and 5,000 candelas. And low, with 100 lumens and 890 candelas. A user-programmable strobe mode is also available.
When in use, the high mode provides 2.5 hours of use, medium provides 4.5 hours, low has a 25-hour run time, and strobe will run for 4 hours 25 minutes. The TEN-TAP programmable switch allows users to program their light between three programs. You can choose between either high/strobe/low (factory default), high only, or low/medium/high.
The ProTac 2.0 is also available in a rail-mounted long gun light version with this same profile. Although some of the specs vary between the tactical and rail-mounted long gun light.
