Chambered in 5.56mm NATO, the California-compliant versions of the rifle both feature a 10-round magazine; fixed stock and ambidextrous safety selector. Both models also sport a durable Armornite finish on the barrel’s interior and exterior for corrosion resistance.
The standard California-compliant M&P15 Sport II comes with a Magpul MBUS rear sight and A2 front post. The Optics Ready version is designed to be just that, and includes a Picatinny rail gas block and top rail system for mounting optics.
“The M&P15 Sport II is a market leader in modern sporting rifles, and we are now offering the California market two new compliant M&P15 Sport II rifles. Known for a winning combination of price, features and proven performance, the M&P15 Sport II rifle is ideally suited for sport, recreation, target and protection use,” Jan Mladek, General Manager of Smith & Wesson and M&P Brands, said in a statement.
The standard CA-compliant model will run you $739, while the OR model is available at a MSRP of $719.
