Amidst the bright lights and smoke-filled casinos of Las Vegas, Taurus launched two new revolver lines at SHOT Show 2020. The first series is the six-shot Taurus Defender 856 in .38 Special +P; our brethren at Personal Defense World recently released a first look at the Defender 856. The other line is the new rimfire Taurus 942 revolver.

Taurus 942 Details
The new eight-shot revolver series is a result of customer demand, according to Taurus. It comes chambered in either .22 LR or .22 WMR. This is certainly a far cry from the Taurus Raging Hunter revolver in .454 Casull released in 2019.
While the new 942 certainly is concealable at just 6.6 inches in overall length, ideally, plinking and training come to mind. However, the 942 is an option for those interested in concealed carry.
To start, the 942 will be available with a 2-inch barrel. We’ve seen reports of a 3-inch barrel from various media websites, but those reports, for the moment, appear to be incorrect. For now, it’s just the 2-inch barrel.
The 942 comes with either a matte black or matte stainless finish on a stainless steel build. With a steel construction comes some nice weight — 23.6 ounces, to be exact. So there is more than enough weight to it. Taurus also hinted at an aluminum version in the future, which reduces that weight a little more. It also has a DA/SA action.
Lastly comes MSRP, which is fairly low. The matte black model comes in at $369.52, while the matte stainless model has an MSRP of $384.97. For more information, please visit TaurusUSA.com.
