Mason Lane of Team Sig Sauer emerged victorious at the 2016 Massachusetts State International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) competition, which took place at the Woburn Sportsman’s Association in Bedford, Massachusetts, and featured over 150 shooters from the New England area.

As the press release notes, Lane, who shot in the Enhanced Service Pistol Division, won overall champion after posting the lowest combined time of 181.84. The match itself contained ten shooting stages, two of which were low-light stages. Shooters had their work cut out for them as they had to engage multiple targets from a number of different shooting positions during each stage of fire. Scores were calculated based on the time it took to shoot the match. If a shooter hit outside the zero area of the target, missed the target completely or hit a non-target threat, time was added to their score.
Lane has been a member of Team Sig Sauer for almost two years now, and he’s been active as an IDPA shooter for the past four years. During his winning run at the 2016 Massachusetts State IDPA competition, he used a Sig sauer P320 9mm pistol.
“This was a very technical, challenging match, with smaller targets, longer shots, and reduced shooting areas,” said Lane. “That combination was very grueling, but I still had a great time and was very pleased with my performance and that of the P320. The general idea of IDPA competitions is for the equipment to play a lesser role, but in reality, accuracy and reliability are very important, especially in matches like this.”
