A.G. Russell is one of those names that is synonymous with the knife industry. Although A.G. left us too soon in 2018, his legacy continues with his family continuing operations. He may be missed, but the company is in good hands, and the same great affordable quality still flows forth. The A.G. Russell Power Ball C2 flipper knife is the latest example. The materials are high quality, but the price is user-friendly.
The A.G. Russell Power Ball C2
Designed with EDC in mind, the Power Ball C2 has a slim profile, maintaining a small footprint in the pocket. However, featuring a 3.375-inch stonewashed blade, the knife is up to any task you put it to. Likewise, the D2 tool steel with 59-61 Rockwell hardness offers solid wear resistance and good hardness and toughness. As a result, it holds an edge well while remaining relatively easy to sharpen.
The drop point blade (A.G.’s favorite profile) features a full flat grind on the primary bevel. This helps to produce a keen-edge bevel, making for a great slicer. The blade presents via a flipper design and rides on a finely tuned ball-bearing pivot for fast actuation. Once open, it is held in lockup via a stainless-steel liner lock.
The Power Ball is available with black or green G-10 handle scales. Correspondingly, the black scales are paired with a blue accent ring around the pivot, while the green is paired with an orange accent ring. Sitting beneath the scales are stainless steel liners, adding to the durability of the Power Ball. However, the liners are skeletonized to reduce weight and bring it down to a lightweight 3.7 ounces.
The Power Ball features a deep carry pocket clip to help conceal the knife deep in the pocket while remaining easily accessible. Although it comes with the clip installed for right-hand tip-up carry, it is reversible for left-hand tip-up carry.
