While many people throw hate on this gun, I am a fan. Sure, it has its issues, but overall it is an exceptional gun. What makes the Beretta 92 so effective? This unique design helps prevent malfunctions by reducing the possibility of stovepipe jams, where an empty case gets caught in the slide as the gun cycles. The open-top slide also aids in keeping the firearm running even under harsh conditions where dust, sand, or dirt might cause issues in closed-slide firearms.

Unlike the more common tilting-barrel designs, the Beretta 92 uses a rotating block that locks the barrel into place when the gun is fired. Famed gun maker Bil Wilson took on the challenges of the 92 himself. Like me, he was a fan of the gun. His end result was the Beretta/Wilson Combat 92G Centurion Tactical. While not actively available through WC now, it is a highly sought after pistol. The still sell upgraded parts for the 92 as well.

While the US Military have moved on, other countries still issue the 92. As a long time world traveler, I have seen 92’s in the holsters of cops everywhere. I have seen guns so old that they finish was almost gone. And yet they still carried the gun. Whether in the hands of military personnel, law enforcement officers, or civilian shooters, the Beretta 92 is a testament to quality design and craftsmanship, embodying the Beretta legacy.
