The U.S. Army recently selected the Trijicon MGRS (Machine Gun Reflex Sight) for use on its M2/M2A1 .50-caliber weapon system. Complete delivery should be completed by 2024, with the sights built in Wixom, Michigan.

The MGRS features a forged 7075-T6 aluminum body designed to withstand the jarring, rapid recoil produced by fixed and turret-mounted machine guns. The MGRS features a large, non-magnified objective lens with a 35 MOA segmented circle reticle. Within the reticle, a 3 MOA dot provides a precise aiming point. A single CR123A battery powers the entire unit. It provides more than 1,000 hours of continuous operation. A 3X magnifier comes with the optic for greater positive identification of target.

The MGRS delivers seven different brightness settings. Two facilitate the use of night vision options. The additional five settings offer fast adjustment to match current conditions, including a super-bright setting for bright daylight.

For zeroing, the optic utilize 1 MOA adjustment increments and 100 MOA of total travel of adjustment. The MGRS includes two interchangeable range knobs ballistically calibrated for use on M2/M2A1 machine guns. When properly zeroed to the weapon platform, the range knob allows the user to dial the correct range as a mechanical Bullet Drop Compensation (BDC) for accurate engagements.
